Hello, my name is Kyle McCurry and welcome to my blog that I am starting. I am the author of The Drifters’ Road book series, of which the first book is available on Amazon, called The Fleeing Company. The Drifters’ Road is a fairy tale, fantasy sort of story that I will speak about often on this blog, from what themes I seek to capture in the story, my characters, and of course what the tale is about.

To speak a little about myself as an author, I think I would begin by saying that I like stories that are fun and escapist, and filled with adventures that go to places that are imaginative and not quite the same as the real world. I suppose that these things might be easy to say, or easy for anyone to think of, though as an author, the next question I look at is what makes a fun story, and what makes an imaginative world that a reader will want to both visit and stay in. And this is a topic that I look forward to speaking about here.

If there is any author that I would consider myself to be a student of, it would be J.R.R. Tolkien. While I am not any kind of expert on Tolkien, nor am I an expert on anything for that matter, I think that my storytelling philosophies do align a good deal with his. My story, The Drifters’ Road book series, will have similar themes to the works of Tolkien as the tale goes on.

Well, there is a whole lot more I could say. However, that is what this blog is for. I will speak much about my own books, the themes and spirit that I will try to capture in them, my characters, and so forth. This is also a great place for me to give updates on what I am working on and the progress I am making. Among other topics, I like to talk about storytelling philosophies, what makes a great story, what the purpose of stories are, and so much more.
